| - A Scottish folk band, the Silly Wizard story started when Bob Thomas (guitar, mandolin) and Gordon Jones (guitar, vocals) met in Edinburgh in 1969. After a few early line-ups they become Silly Wizard in 1972, and shortly afterwords Johnny Cunningham (fiddle, mandolin) joins. At the end of 1974 Andy M. Stewart joins on vocals and tenor banjo, with Freeland Barbour (later of The Wallochmor Ceilidh Band) on accordion. In '76 Johnny's younger brother Phil takes over on accordion, and with Martin Hadden (bass, harmonium) the band enjoys a steady line-up (although Bob Thomas drops out at some point) and great success until his end on the half 80's.

dbo:abstract
| - Silly Wizard was a Scottish folk band that began forming in Edinburgh in 1970. The founder members were two like-minded university students—Gordon Jones (guitar, bodhran, vocals, bouzouki, mandola) and Bob Thomas (guitar, mandolin, mandola, banjo, concertina). The as-yet-unnamed band was sometimes joined by thirteen-year-old schoolboy Johnny Cunningham (fiddle, viola, mandola, vocals), who began more extensive touring with the band in 1972.
