  • Rockford, Illinois 1974 saw the formation of one of America's well known power-pop bands - Cheap Trick.They became a success with their self-titled debut, in which they started off their defining sound; the catchiness of The Beatles with the speed and energy of Punk rock. The Los Angeles Times proclaimed: %22Cheap Trick gained fame by twisting the Beatlesque into something shinier, harder, more American.%22 They have often been referred to in the Japanese press as the %22American Beatles%22.Most known for their tracks %22Surrender%22, %22I Want You To Want Me%22, %22Dream Police%22 and %22The Flame%22 - and did a cover of Big Star's %22In The Street%22 for American sitcom That 70's Show (season 2 onwards) and also the theme tune to the American satirical late night television program The Colbert Report.Surprisingly, for the age of the band the line-up hasn't changed a great deal. Also the Illinois State Senate has declared 1st April to be %22Cheap Trick Day%22.   • Cheap Trick is an American rock band from Rockford, Illinois, formed in 1973. As of 2010, the band currently consists of Robin Zander (vocals, rhythm guitar), Rick Nielsen (lead guitar), Tom Petersson (bass guitar) and Daxx Nielsen (drums). Their biggest hits include %22Surrender%22, %22I Want You to Want Me%22, %22Dream Police%22 and %22The Flame%22.They have often been referred to in the Japanese press as the %22American Beatles%22. In October 2007, the Illinois Senate passed a resolution designating April 1 as Cheap Trick Day in the state. The band was also ranked No. 25 in VH1's list of the 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock.
